Learn More About What Botox Can Do For You

Botox is an FDA approved treatment that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, forehead wrinkles, and crows feet. Botox works by partially paralyzing the muscles responsible for creating these lines. In time, this causes the wrinkles to fade thus providing a more youthful appearance.

Botox is a naturally-occurring protein made by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. As Botox is a relatively large molecule, it cannot be absorbed through the skin like many creams and other beauty products and must be injected.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox is commonly used to treat the following:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical forehead lines (frown lines)
  • Periorbital folds (crows feet/squint lines)
  • Nasoglabellar lines (nasal scrunch/bunny lines)
  • Upper lip lines
  • Lower lip lines
  • Chin lines
  • Neck lines

Additionally, Botox is also used for eyebrow elevations, and is often used in conjunction with other facial contouring modalities such as Kybella, Juvederm, and other injectables.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Each Botox treatment session can take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. The total time for treatment may differ patient to patient depending on the number of units required, the areas being treated, and any other treatments being performed.

Is Treatment Painful?

Botox injections are performed using a fine needle. While everyone has a different pain tolerance, most patients report having virtually zero discomfort.

How Long Do Botox Treatments Last?

Patients typically begin to see results within 48 hours, with the full outcome of the procedure taking effect 7-10 days following treatment. While the duration of results vary patient to patient, Botox treatment results typically last 3-4 months on average. To maintain smoother, youthful skin follow-up treatment sessions are always scheduled in advance.
